Jennifer Dane: Disconnect Between the Community and LGTBQ+ Veterans

The Modern Military Association of America works toward creating fairness and equality for the LGBTQ+ military and veteran community. The nonprofit has had various legislative successes, including a lawsuit ensuring individuals with HIV could commission, as well as being the organization plaintiff against former President Donald Trump's transgender military service ban.

As the CEO, Jennifer Dane talks about the difficulties the nonprofit faces when it comes to political climate and community perception and support. Both the Administration and the political lean in Congress influence the Modern Military Association of America's ability to advocate for the LGBTQ+ military and veteran community. Jennifer talks about the stark differences between the Trump Administration and the Biden Administration when it came to resources and support. She highlighted the disconnect there is between our society and LGBTQ+ veterans. While society tends to honor those that serve, Jennifer talks about the hate and threats her organization receives for the work they do advancing rights of LGBTQ+ veterans and service members.
